No consideration of growing turf would be complete without discussing the effects of the Ohio River Valley. We are classically in the transition zone. Cool season grasses like Bluegrass and Fescue thrive in the summer climates of Minnesota and Michigan and warm season grasses like Bermuda and Zoysia excel in the warm climates of Atlanta. Growing turf in the Ohio River Valley is one of the toughest spots in the country to grow grass. It's not impossible, but not easy and full of compromises.
